Kevin & Dawn are getting married September 6, 2008. We went to the tulip gardens in Golden Gate Park and then to Ocean Beach for their engagement portraits. They were really great to work with! They were really relaxed in front of the camera and so obviously in love. These are my favorite images from our session.

Rachel is an expecting mother who is about 7 months pregnant. This is a perfect time to have pregnancy portraits done. This style of portraiture can be really fun and a great addition to a child’s portrait history. We used a combination of black and white backdrops to create some truly stunning images. I had a wonderful time photographing Rachel (Thanks Rachel!), and I look forward to photographing her baby in the coming months.

It’s been a very busy week over here and I’ve got lots of sessions to post but not enough time… so I thought I’d just update and let everyone know what’s been going on here at the studio.
We’ve got 2 great new engagement sessions to post, one beautiful maternity session, and a 4 month old baby came in and modeled with some of our new props including a Grecian column, mini claw foot bathtub and wicker basket. These are all going to be really fun and I can’t wait to finish retouching them so I can post them already
And on top of all that I just took a fabulous class all day today with celebrity wedding photographer Joe Buissink and Australian wedding photographer Yervant (one of my personal favorite wedding photographers). I learned a bunch of great new stuff and can’t wait to start incorporating it.
2008 is now fully booked!!! So, unless you’re planning on taking me out of the country for a particularly fun destination wedding, you better push your wedding back to next year
Except, on the off chance that someone reading this is getting married in Europe in mid July, I’ll be in France photographing a wedding on July 5th near Tours and will be hanging around just for fun until probably July 23rd… So if you or someone you know is getting married in Europe during that window, I could probably be persuaded to photograph it and you’d save on airfare
And now to wrap up this post I’ll leave you with an image of my grandpa I took on a recent visit to Los Angeles. Enjoy!

Wow, what a fabulous wedding! Mari & Don were married at the Valley Presbyterian Church in Portola Valley. This was the first time I’ve had a chance to work there and I must say it’s a gorgeous church with a full wall of windows looking into the woods. The reception was held at the Peninsula Golf & Country Club in San Mateo, which is also a stunning locale. Below are some of my favorite images after artistic enhancement.

This is a fun montage I made while brainstorming for which print to enter in competition this month. I’m also playing around with some new techniques I learned at WPPI.

Mari looked just stunning on her wedding day!

They rented a Lamorghini as a getaway car. It was a lot of fun to use as a prop. This is one of my favorites which Sandra actually captured. I enhanced it with cross processing.

This is an old technique made new again that I’ve been trying to start capturing at all my church/indoor weddings. I use a remote flash to give a beautiful silhouetted glow to the bride and her father as they walk down the aisle.

You can see what a beautiful church this is. However the lighting is all wrong… someone needs to bring in a photographer when they’re designing these things
I had to double process the image to get the trees to be their natural color as well as the people. Otherwise either the people turn yellow or the trees turn blue.

They had a really fun bridal party. We lost a couple here and there but they were all really fun

Another great photograph in a classic style. I’m trying to bring back the best elements of classic photographers, techniques that have been largely lost or forgotten.

So this is the image I ended up deciding to use for print competition this month. Obviously one of my favorites and hopefully the judges will agree!

I just had my infrared camera re-calibrated and it’s a joy to use. The source image is actually black and white and then this is enhanced back closer to how the camera sees it.

This is definitely one of my favorite images from the day.

They’re such a good looking couple!

The bridesmaids were very patient with me, even while we were all freezing cold! And look what a cute image! See, it was worth it

I’ve been told I was lucky that the bride’s brother was wearing underwear on this day!

Wow! Another one of my favorites! Ok so yes these are all my favorites and that’s why they’re in the blog… But still!

I’m starting to play around with adding little scroll effects and such. Feedback is appreciated. I think it looks great!

This is a fantastic image taken from the balcony. I added a little extra blur to everyone around them.

This was really beautiful sweeping pathway just on the side of the main entrance. I managed to sneak them out there for a minute at the very end of the night.

Sparklers always make a striking getaway. I actually got lucky on this one with someone else’s flash helping enhance my own photograph.
Thanks Mari & Don and Congratulations!!!!!

It’s that beautiful time of year again with the cherry blossoms in full bloom and love in the air! We’ve got engagement sessions almost every week and sometimes two, so you should see lots of updates in the blog. This is the latest engagement session which included stops at Golden Gate Park and then the Legion of Honor and finally China Beach. It was another gorgeous day and another stunning sunset. Enjoy!

Marilyn and Gary started off a little bit shy (as does almost everyone) but they warmed up and started having fun very quickly.

Here I’m trying out a new technique I learned recently using a video light which after color correction subsequently turns the background blue. I think it’s a really cool effect.

This is one of my favorite photos of the day. It’s got a great sense of perspective with foreground, middle and background all lending to the beauty of the image.

I don’t know quite what it is, but I always love the cross process look. Especially at the beach!

I need a thesaurus… how many other words are there for beautiful/gorgeous/stunning sunsets?

I really like this image too

Aren’t they just so cute in love!

I had a wonderful engagement session last week with this beautiful couple and their son. These are my favorite images from the session. Please feel free to leave comments!

We started our session at Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park.

There were many great spots for photos all around. I especially like the little blue flowers that were in bloom on the hillside.

I caught this moment as we were wrapping up the location. The light shining down the path was just gorgeous.

We found some terrific cherry blossom trees to take photographs under.

Their son was full of energy and great to work with.

We ended up at China Beach for some great sunset photos.

I really love this one of the three of them just watching the sunset.
