Sneak Peek – Karen & Carrie’s Carmel wedding

This past weekend we had the honor of photographing the wedding of Karen & Carrie in Carmel at a lovely venue called Folktale Winery & Vineyards.

We are pleased to present a sneak peek of what we captured during their day. Kudos to the planner,  Ann, of LUX Premier Events for her all day support.

First, a few details:

The day was a tad warmer than we expected, and the kind folks at Folktale kept everyone well hydrated with lovely branded waters that matched the scenery.

Of course, water was not the only option, and there was plenty of chilled sparkling wine to go around.

Adorable signage was everywhere, letting guests know what to do …. with appropriate irreverence.

The florals were exceptionally lovely. Shades of purple, magenta, crimson & lavender accented with bright greenery thoughtfully combined with interesting textures and height. Floral Design by Reina gets credit for these beauties.

Speaking of beauties, it’s time to introduce our brides.

Karen (getting her hair did)

and Carrie (Carrie’s mom is tucking a piece of her own wedding veil into Carrie’s coat pocket)

Here’s a shot of their rings on a portion of their invitation. These ladies have oodles of personal style that they infused into the day.

As Carrie told me, while she waited for Karen to arrive at their first look. (and I’ll paraphrase) “We didn’t stay traditional on a lot of things, except this, I haven’t seen her dress yet”

And WOW. What a dress it was!

Their ceremony was held in the middle of the vineyard. Karen’s father escorted her down one row of grapevines-turned aisle, while Carrie’s mother and father accompanied her down the aisle one row over. They all met at the end to embrace, see their guests for the first time, and walk the remaining length of aisle between their guests, together as a couple.

Their friend, Alexa, officiated. There was not a dry eye in the bunch, and the bouts of spontaneous laughter may even have outnumbered the tears. I rarely overhear so many people remark at how touching and memorable a ceremony was. This ceremony had everyone talking.

And then there was the bridal party. Women outnumbered the men 3 to 1 and everyone was dressed in their own unique ensemble.  Someone commented that they were 16 shades of grey. That may give you an idea of how fun and sassy this group was – saying they were a blast to hang out with would be an understatement. Fun & Rowdy Bridal Party

The reception was held in Folktale winery’s Barrel Room. Hanging fabric, twinkling lights and warm uplighting created a magically inviting space. More of Reina’s gorgeous florals and countless votives decorated the tables. Linens and table cards were kept clean and classic in greys and white. Guests were gifted wine bottle openers engraved with “Carmel, Ca”. A perfect compliment to the sleek silver color of the theme and the barrel room ambiance.

We took the brides out for a few more photos before letting them play with their guests.

And one last peek, at a crucial part of Karen & Carrie’s wedding…. the dancing.

OH! there was so much dancing and rejoicing at this party!

The brides celebrated their first dance as a married couple to “Rock with you” by Michael Jackson.

How are these for some appropriate lyrics ?!

Out on the floor

There ain’t nobody there but us
Girl when you dance
There’s a magic that must be love
Just take it slow
‘Cause we got so far to go
You gotta feel that heat
And we can ride the boogie
Share that beat of love

I want to rock with you (all night)
Dance you into day (sunlight)
I want to rock with you (all night)
Rock the night away

rock with you

And I’m smiling and crying at the same time… again.

Congratulations Karen and Carrie. Your wedding was the bomb.

Love, from

Bri & Mischa
