Granite Bay Golf Club wedding

Mischa photographed this Granite Bay Golf Club wedding solo (while I was photographing Jess & Eric’s Intimate Beach wedding), so I asked for contributions from both the bride, Angela and the coordinator, Kelle to help tell the story for the blog post.

What follows, are their words and our photographs:

Angela begins:

“Jim and I met at a lounge in downtown Sacramento 5.5 years ago. At the time, we were both newly separated from previous long term relationships and we weren’t looking to get into another relationship–certainly not expecting to meet our Soulmate. It was such a dark time for both of us, and fate truly gave us a new breath of life. ”

Angela continues:

“As the Membership Director of Granite Bay Golf Club, there is no place I would rather marry the Love of My Life! Aside from it being my home away from home, it is such a beautiful venue where I am surrounded by amazing people. I also have first hand knowledge as to the top notch service our team provides on a daily basis, and the care they put in to every event we have at the Club.”

The day was unusual if not eventful, with thunderstorms and wind for the first half of the day giving way to sunshine and double rainbows just in time for the ceremony.

(editor’s note: WOW! Angela! you look stunning walking down the aisle! Your dress is perfection)

The intimate ceremony was held on the Club’s Library Patio among a small group of family and close friends.

Donald Darst officiated the wedding. He and his wife Liz enrolled as Members of GBGC a couple of years ago, and we instantly became friends. Don moved to Granite Bay from Santa Cruz after retiring from his Family Law practice. He had decided to officiate weddings in an effort to bring goodness to people in support of marriage after spending so many years as a Divorce Attorney working with people who were splitting up.

The Bride and Groom exchanged touching personal vows, and there was not a dry eye to be seen.

With no one more evident than my daughter, Jenna. 😉

Upon the conclusion of the ceremony, the wedding party and guests exited to the violinist’s rendition of “Stairway to Heaven”.

Kelle from Granite Bay describes the reception setting:

“The room looked absolutely magical! Katie from Ambience Floral Design did a phenomenal job with the florals for this event”

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed dinner in the Library adorned with glitzy decor and candles, with a canopy of crystals, tea lights and suspended flowers.

Kelle continues:

“Without the rain, we would never have rainbows. The sky was magical that day and it created breathtakingly beautiful photos that I know this family will treasure for many years to come.”

“To Angela and her family I am known as “Auntie Kelle”. Every wedding I plan I treat as if it were my own, but when you are working with your best friend and their family you want that day to be EXTRAORDINARLY special and it was.”

According to Kelle, this is…”Hands down my favorite photo of the day!! It truly captures the personality of their family and the silliness that I get to witness at their home regularly.”

“My favorite photos are those that capture the beautiful and dramatic sky as well as the terrain of the course.” – Angela

Additional guests and Club Members joined the celebration on the patio after dinner while listening under the stars to R&B and Classic Rock tunes performed by Boomer.

Angela & Kelle both pointed out the “love” photo as a favorite.

Kelle elaborates: “I have always loved this style shot that Mischa does. The blue lighting in the sand traps was from the band lighting behind us and the light behind the clouds was from the moon that night. It was awesome to witness and assist in the execution of this shot.”
