Sacramento Photography Workshops and 1 on 1 Instruction:

Would you like to learn how to take better photographs?  Do you have a DSLR and never take it off auto?  If so, we have classes available for you!  Our goal is to help you get the most out of your camera and learn what makes a good image. Mischa is an expert teacher and will make learning photography fun and simple.  Group classes are available for both beginners and those with previous photography experience. We also offer a special class in post processing for those who want to learn more about what to do with the photographs they take.  Individual classes are also available and fully customized to help you learn exactly what you want.

Introduction to Photography

This class will teach you the fundamentals of photography including aperture, shutter speed, film speed (ISO) and how those relate to taking portraits of people, taking travel photographs, depth of field, freezing action, and choosing the right lens.  We will be going over the technical functionality of dslr cameras and explaining how to set your camera including jpg vs raw, shooting modes and more.  We will also briefly touch on methods of managing/organizing your photographs and turning your digital files into printed photographs.

You are ready for this class if:

  • You own a dslr camera, or a camera with manual capabilities
  • You want to learn how to use your camera in easy terms
  • You want the option of taking your camera off auto

Class Length: 3 hours

Class Size: 10-20 students.

  • Extra lenses if you own them
  • memory card
  • camera owner’s manual
  • notebook or laptop

  • Sunday August 4th 3-6pm
  • Wednesday August 14th 6-9pm
  • Tuesday August 20th 6-9pm
  • Sunday September 14th 4-7pm
  • Monday September 23rd 6-9pm
  • Thursday October 3rd 6-9pm

Taking your photography to the next level

This class will teach you how to take a better photograph through composition, lighting and lens selection.   This class includes instruction in using the rule of thirds and leading lines to help guide your viewer as well as seeing light, creating light, and using flash on and off camera.  We will also be going over basic processing techniques in Lightroom.  This is a 2 part class with instruction the first day and image review the second.

You are ready for this class if:

  • You own a dslr camera, or a camera with manual capabilities
  • You have a solid knowledge of aperture, shutter and ISO or have completed the Introduction to Photographyclass
  • You want to learn how to improve your photographs and are open to critique
  • You want to learn how to use flash and available light to your advantage

Class Length: 4 hours split into 2 hours on 2 days.

Class Size: 3-20 students.

  • camera owner’s manual
  • A laptop with a card reader

Post Processing

In this class we will be going over post processing in Lightroom and Photoshop as well as discussing digital file management.  You will learn the basics of how to enhance and edit the photographs that you have taken.  Processing from Raw to jpg, retouching blemishes, sharpening, and exporting for the internet and print.

You are ready for this class if:

  • You have a basic knowledge of computers and own or have installed a trial of Lightroom and Photoshop.
  • You have images you’d like to work on that were taken in raw format.

Class Length: 4 hours

Class Size: 3-20 students.

What to Bring:

  • Laptop with a card reader and either Photoshop CS5 or later or Lightroom 4 or later installed.

Individual 1 on 1 instruction

Individual classes are customized to your specific questions, areas of interest and areas where you want to improve. We can review your previous work or go on a photo shoot and get feedback while shooting.
